You may be wondering, what is business immigration? What does that term even mean?! In general, business immigration is going to encompass any form of immigration where an employer, job position, or specialized skill is the reason for the visa application. This would be in opposition to something like family immigration, where you might be sponsored by a family member; or humanitarian immigration, where you might be applying based on your country circumstances or some qualifying event. You may have the opportunity to look at multiple paths to an immigrant status, and one of these paths does not necessarily prevent you from applying for another visa form. However, for business immigration, you must meet specific business visa requirements to even have this as an option.
Within business immigration, we can typically group business visas into two groups: immigration visas, where there is a path to a lawful permanent residence status (ie a greencard); and non-immigrant visas, where the person may be temporarily in the United States for a specific purpose. Most visas are applied for through the United States Citizenship & Immigration Services (USCIS). You can their website here. There are many different types of business visas, and all have very specific requirements that can vary wildly between them. If you are interested in learning more, call or email to set up a consult!
