What is investment immigration?! What falls under this category?!
Generally, investment immigration is going to be what it sounds like - you are a foreigner who wants to invest in the United States! These typically have to be high investment amounts. You must be able to invest $1,000.000 (USD), or $500,000 (USD) in a high-unemployment, or rural area. Then within 2 years, you must be able to create 10 full-time jobs for those authorized to work (US citizens, or immigrants with permission). These people cannot include yourself, your spouse, or your kids though. This visa falls under the EB-5 category of immigration business visas, which means that this is a path to obtaining legal permanent residence in the United States.

These visas may seem easy on their face - just be super wealthy with a good business idea! However, they are one of the more tricky and complicated visas because of the various requirements around the type of business (sole proprietorship, partnership etc), the form of the capital investment required, and length of time it takes to get to the point of receiving legal permanent residence (greencard). It often takes a team of attorneys knowledge on business law, immigration law, and tax law to create a smooth pathway to this visa.
